ChrisC: The team tournaments & Fellowship teams are only available to paid members.

Pawns are allowed 1 tournament - which you can find listed in the "Tournaments" link (http://brainking.com/en/Tournaments)

Since you are limited to just 1 tournament at a time, it is wise to look through and find the one that is best suited for you since you will not be able to join another one until that one is complete. (so a 30 day time limit might mean some games last a real long time - and a shorter 2-3 day time limit might be beter.... but it depends on the person.)

Oh, and welcome!

Vikings: The Info page is it's own system, not connected to this system - other then a place for Fencer to post things about this site - for example when it is down.... so Fencer is probable the only one with a sign in to the info page right now.

Would be nice if there was some sort of discussion board on the info site so if the site does go down, or users can not log onto here for some reason - it will give them a place to go and "chat" with others while we wait for Fencer to wake up and fix the system!

Assunto: Re: A question about the ads...
Fencer: Is that new, or did they always disaprear for the rest of the day. That might make some of the players who hate ads but would like to play the "action points" thing - that is as long as they take out about 10 seconds to at least take a look at an ad once, they would be able to play the rest of the day without looking at them anymore PLUS still gain action points. (Again, for the ones who would like to play.)

Marfitalu: I also agree that it would be nice to be able to have moderators move posts also - but on the flip side, I would much rather have Fencer spend time making new games then improving the discussion boards.

WatfordFC: (probable a good discussion to take to the computer board) - but would be surprised if someone would just remove the IE link - in Start, All Programs - I find Internet Explorer just sitting there. You can also create a new link also if you wanted (and if so - lets continue it on the computer board so we don't get too far off topic for this board.)

9. Agosto 2006, 15:46:18

Assunto: A few things.
WatfordFC: You don't need to reset your internet settings just to use IE - you should have an icon still in the start menu that says "Internet Explorer" unless you deleted them for some reason. (Since Firefox does not "replace" or "Delete" IE - but just adds a second browser to your system.) Many times I will have both Firefox & IE up at the same time.

Fencer: You don't tell someone not to do something - of course that is the first thing people will do! "Hey, don't look down" - what does someone do - look down.

playBunny: Firefox security - I just hope that does not scare people away from Firefox since it is still 80% more secure then IE - but hopefully let people know that you should always practive "safe browsing" while on the internet. Like any browser, and it becomes more popular, more people are going to try to find the holes in it.

multiple people: If you paid to not have ads the solution is VERY simple, go turn them off. You paid to play "board" type games in a turn based system, not pay to play a points game - so if there is an extra rule about having ads on to play - then don't play. (I like playBunny's "entry fee" comparison - having the ads on is like an entry fee.) For me, I paid to play in more tournaments - but did I complain when all of a sudden you needed to buy more Brains to play in some! Nope, I just did not play those and kept playing the ones that I paid to play. The ads are a neccessaty - heck, if everyone would click on 1 ad a week (since clicking pays more then just viewing these days), Fencer could probably almost turn this site into a completly free site - or at least continue to offer more and more prizes each month! But the bottom line is Fencer has kept the option for all paying members to still turn off the ads so I'm not sure why people are still complaining.

Assunto: Re:action points
jurek: Action points are available to all browsers as long as ad's are showing up - do you have any programs which disable ads?

The "Secret" action points that some have been getting can only be found using IE for some "security" reason, but I believe Fencer was going to try to make it work for Firefox.

Assunto: Re: Player list...
LionsLair: One of the reasons is that BrainKing keeps a history of all past games - so when you start to delete players from the database, their games that are attached to those games start to mis-match and such.

Which I'm sure there are ways to get around it and such, but the much simpler solution is just not delete them.

In the players list, you can sort by the last action to easly see how many "active" players are still on the site and such if you are looking for those typs of stats.

Stevie: I keep the ad's on the bottom of the screen (and to the right now), and they don't bother me at all - if I was forced to see them at the top of the screen, then I would not even play with the action points - but where they are - at least I feel that they don't bother me much at all. (plus reminds me to click on them every once and awhile to help Fencer earn a few more cents)

Assunto: Re: Question???
Pbarb2: Are you talking about the option of "Receive group messages from the Big Boss" that you can turn on/off in a fellowship?

If so, I love this option. As a person who reads most of the discussion boards in the fellowships, one of my BIGGEST annoyances is when a BIG BOSS will send out a message to everyone, then I go and read the same exact message in the fellowship boards.

I know the option to send out a message to everyone is very helpful since not everyone reads the fellowship boards, but for someone like me - I love this option. (I have even left fellowships in the past where the BIG BOSS would send out 2-4 messages a day to everyone in the group).

But the default option is to reviece messages, so hopefully to the ones who do not read the boards - they will never know this option is there so will not turn it off.

Assunto: Re:
Vikings: Since it is still the "testing" month, I will give my opinion.

The limit of 1 per opponenet does seem low. Is there a way to maybe make the limit of 1 non-tournament game per day, and maybe 3-4 tournament games a day.

I know it adds to the complexity of the rules, but I see this limit as one that is to help stop some cheating - and most of that would come from non-tournament games.

Assunto: Re: Action points
Fencer: Game wins - are you going to limit how many points you can gain from the same opponent?

If not, i can see a couple getting 50 games between then, just to quickly play (or resign) just to get some free points. (and of course you will hear about it here shortly after that about players gaining points unfairly)

Assunto: Re: Action points
Fencer: How about something like I suggested on General Chat - give 10 points for reading a public board, 5 points for fellowship board - but limit that to once a day for each board.

That way it will still encourage user to read (or at least look) at the boards, but they don't feel like then need to come every hour and click on every board just to gain points. (just once a day)

Hey, I just found something new - in the fellowships, you now have the option to check or uncheck "Receive group messages from the Big Boss"

That is taken from the site the rich text editor is based from - so I would guess those requirements would be similar after Fencer's modifications on it.
