I have a team entered into Fencers tourney. One of my players has not been on for a long time. I am not Captain, but BB. How can I get the captain off there and add myself as Captain?
Thanks

redfrog: I'm sorry, I don't take things very seriously here, I just see this place as a "gamesite", not real-life.....Work is work, play is play.....I just thought the above referenced sentence was priceless is all.....if I have to be in a BK "category", I guess I'd rather be in the "unreasonable, unhelpful, selfish" one.......Not to say that most Mods don't do a good job, but there are a couple who tend to lean towards their own "dictatorship" roles, as if this site is it's own country or whatnot

Subject: Re: Does Brainking have some flaw that only attracts unreasonable people to register here, or that attracts mostly unhelpful, selfish types of people?
srnity: its not that BK attracts these types - its the online environment that makes people feel like they are untouchable, powerful, and releases the inner jerk. The discussion on "moderating by the moderators" is the prime example. In real life we dont have moderators going around and editing conversations or banning people from conversing in public. Instead we have morals and the ability to choose who we interact with. Here - we have those that take advantage of the public boards to ignore what others find decent and we need these moderators to balance the lack of our ability to walk away. Thats why I volunteered to be a co-mod on this board - Id love to help Fencer and the global mods keep this site a friendly place to play and have fun.

Czuch Czuckers: sorry, maybe that was tongue-in-cheek when I said it was thankless. Its only thankless and unrewarding when you have to moderate someone. Sometimes the person moderated takes it well, and understands, and other times, they don't.

Eriisa: BTW, I must really be unique, because I thought it was an honor to be a moderator, and fun and had a hint of prestige as well! I didnt find it thankless at all, in fact, I found it rewarding, and an ego booster!

When I hear how thankless and unrewarding so many find it, I wonder why you would do it at all?

(BTW, I was not removed from moderating because of my ability to moderate, I was actually very good at it, it was because of my disagreeable insight that clashed with others opinions that got me booted!)

Now, how many different people are board moderators? Are we up to 10% yet? probably not.
But I guess if it is as high as 10%, that isnt really so bad.

I will have to accept Floozie when she says that there just arent any good candidates available, I just wonder if thats because most people just dont care about the discussion boards? It seems like that is it, really.

Well, I see over 50 thousand registered users, and less than .5% (yes thats half of 1%) are moderators or have any other functions that help out brainking.

Does Brainking have some flaw that only attracts unreasonable people to register here, or that attracts mostly unhelpful, selfish types of people?

I mean if BBW had removed himself from all moderating (except global) and he had to be re enlisted because of a lack of anyone else qualified, or lack of volunteers, what does that say for the 99.5% of the registered users who dont help out this site? Thats pretty depressing to me!

5. August 2007, 23:06:16
NOT a floosie

Sorry...I just have to laugh.

It's not like BBW or anyone else is getting any extra benefits from helping out the site.  They are doing it of their own free will, and time.  If there is anyone here that is a paying member and would like to help out the site in some way, feel free to let any of the Globals know.  There are always boards that come up that need moderators or co-mods.  We ask and ask sometimes and all we get are the people that have caused problems.  Obviously, they wouldn't be much help if they have already made enemies here and continue to attack them, or have their own little groupies that choose to prey on others.  Reasonable people are always considered when something opens up.

Subject: peoples responsiblities on this site
its a persons own decision to accept a duty/responsibility on this site, if (s)he agrees to do a job which fencer asked her/him to do, then it should be fine with other people as well .... unless the job isnt done well

in case the job is being done bad, please send a message to the person her/himself first and if that doesnt work .. send it to a mod/glob/fencer

if someone else wants more reponsibilities please contact a mod (if (s)he wants to be the comod), or a glob or fencer

talking negative about someone doesnt help much, please try to keep a positive mood ;)

i love it that we will have more regular team tournaments, and am quite curious to see what the outcome of the team rankings will be now there will be more of them :)

i am happy for coan.net and tanein for having a job i think they like (although i dont envy them much myself ;)) and i am sure they will be doing a good job as they both already showed to be good tournament creators in the past

good luck with the job :)

Subject: Re:
Czuch Czuckers: Even though I know I explained this before, I'll do it again.

I never stopped playing ponds when i got to the top of the Ponds BKR list - Many ponds last on average 2 months. I stopped playing (and showed you the proof back when) of when i stopped joining new ponds - and with the remaining ponds, ended up doing good and only at that point did my ponds BKR raise to the top. (Which I never stopped playing - but I limited myself about around 5 at a time - instead of the 30+ at a time) Again, I know I explained all of this to you before, but for some reason... it just never sticks.

Yes, when the rule that Rooks could have a limit of 2 fellowships, i had 3. But guess what, I gave one of those up (the frogazons / Swamp Frogs Fellowship) - so I was back within the limit of 2. But maybe you did not know this. Black rooks have a limit of 3, so after that time - I did start a 3rd fellowship - well within my limit - nothing "grandfathered" in.

And also, I had at one time removed myself from all of the moderating positions on the public boards. Since then, I have been added for one reason or another (like no other moderator, the main moderator wanted me, etc....) Again, I know I explained this to you before also, but.....

As for the "title" in my profile, I'm sorry that it is still there. That part of my profile, I never have changed for a long time and just did not pay attention that it was still there. There are also other things in my profile that are also out of date, like the names I use in some of the other game sites (which I've changed) - but to make you happy, I will sit down and update my profile here in the next few days - will that make you happy?

Anyway, in case your contempt for me has clouded your ability to comprehend my point, I was trying to point out that there are many other people besides BBW with a black rook membership who does not cause problems who have taken on what little responsibility they can garnish and who have done a great job of it, who dont have so many games that they cannot accept invitations, who, in my opinion, would make great candidates to help fencer out!

Sorry to everyone else who got my point the first time I stated it, Purple if you have any other comments or questions, please PM me!
